As Mother Theresa once said, “I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things.” In early 2023 a collaborative agreement was enacted among the City of Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs Utilities, and Pikes Peak Waterways. This collaborative agreement identifies the three organizations’ roles and commitment to implement the COS Creek Plan.
The COS Creek Plan was released in Spring of 2022. Under the leadership of Pikes Peak Waterways, this visioning process convened over 80 community stakeholders and researched over 40 plans to reach a holistic vision for Fountain and Monument Creeks within Downtown Colorado Springs. The nearly 3 year process produced four main pillars which the COS Creek Plan stands on: Restore the Natural Functions of the Corridor, Create a Premiere Destination for Outdoor Recreation & Leisure, Support Economic Vitality and Revitalization, and Create a Strong Sense of Place Unique to Colorado Springs.
The partners in this collaboration understand the value of working together to achieve the greater good for the waterways as well as the community.
